Gilly Roundtree

Appearance

Gilly Roundtree is an overweight, aging gnome who dresses in loose, richly decorated robes and lounges through most of the day. His hair has long since turned gray. He keeps a pipe going when he is thinking, which is most of the time, though he would not describe himself as working. He wears a large blue gemstone ring on one hand that he turns slowly when he is calculating something.

He lives in the Garden District and has largely stopped leaving it. People who need Gilly come to Gilly. He has decided that this arrangement suits him perfectly.

Personality

Gilly takes his job seriously in the way a craftsman takes his craft seriously — the work itself matters to him even if the hours and the effort do not. Beacon's treasury exists almost entirely in his head. The scrolls and books and ledgers exist too, but they are a record of what Gilly already knows, not a source he consults.

No one doubts his ability. The numbers are always right. The accounts always balance. Every coin that moves through Beacon's treasury has been accounted for.

The flip side to this is that Gilly can never pretend he didn't know who he was allowing to take a little off the top.
